What Makes Us Different

Several key aspects set our program apart from other recovery ministries:

  • Prioritizing Quality Over Quantity: Rather than focusing on high enrollment numbers, we are committed to delivering individualized, high-quality care and discipleship. Our approach emphasizes meaningful transformation for each participant.

  • Holistic Recovery Model: The program addresses the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—through integrated spiritual, emotional, physical, and practical support. This comprehensive framework is designed to promote complete healing and long-term wholeness in Christ.

  • Extended Aftercare and Reintegration Support: Our commitment extends well beyond the 12-month residential program. We maintain ongoing relationships with graduates, providing assistance with securing employment, obtaining safe and sober housing, and successfully transitioning back into society.

  • Fully Church-Funded Model: The program is provided at no cost to participants. We do not accept government grants, Medi-Cal reimbursements, or other public funding. Instead, the ministry is sustained entirely by the support of generous people from within the community at large.

These elements reflect our dedication to Christ-centered, sustainable recovery that fosters genuine life change and lasting freedom.

Enrollment

Enrollment/Eligibility:
1) We don’t take sex offenders
2) We can’t take individuals with arson charges.
3) We cannot accept individuals with schizophrenia or severe bipolar
diagnosis.
4) We cannot take individuals with chronic health issues as we are not
a medical facility.
5) Applicants must want to come.

Intake: Prospective participants begin with a preliminary phone interview conducted by Refuge House staff to assess suitability and discuss program expectations. Upon successful completion of the interview, arrangements are made for transportation to the facility or for the individual to arrive independently.

This thorough intake procedure ensures each man enters the program with clarity, support, and a strong foundation for his journey toward lasting recovery and spiritual growth.
